Over 50 years ago, A.L. "Pick" Waugh retired from selling coal from his one truck and joined Talbott Insurance as an agent. Talbott-Waugh Insurance was born. Pick proved he could sell insurance as well as coal and the agency continued to prosper. In 1976 he purchased the balance of the agency from Robert "Bob" Talbott and changed the name to Waugh Insurance Agency, Inc. In 1977 Pick's son, Dan, became a new agent and began working with his father.

Waugh Insurance Agency has seen many changes over the years. Most recently, the office has moved from it's previous location at 124 South Pennsylvania Avenue to a newly remodeled office at 340 South Pennsylvania Avenue. The move was necessary to better serve customers and obtain more space for employees and equipment.

Pick is retired now but still checks on the running of the agency. In the beginning most policies were rated and issued "in office". Computerization and the internet have changed all that. One thing that hasn't changed is our commitment to service our customers. Insure Today, Be Sure Tomorrow. We mean it.

Dan is licensed in Property and Casualty as well as Life and Health. He is a Wellston High School graduate and attended Ohio University before beginning his insurance training in Columbus, Ohio. Dan worked at Buckeye Union Insurance Company as a Personal Lines underwriter from 1975 to 1977. He returned to Wellston to join his father in the agency. Dan has earned a Certified Insurance Counselor designation showing his dedication to the highest standards of insurance practices.

Anita began working at Waugh Insurance in 1974 as a customer service representative. She obtained her license for Property and Casualty in 1984. She is a graduate of Wellston High School and attended the Ohio State University. Anita brings over 34 years experience to our customers.

Robert "Bob" Householder is licensed in Life and Health as well as Property and Casualty. He is a graduate of Wellston High School and Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Wendy Davis has been a licensed Property and Casualty agent for over four years. She is a graduate of Wellston High School and attended Liberty University and Rio Grande College. Wendy is married and has two children.
